NEEDHAM 12-BORE 1862-PATENT SINGLE-BOLT SNAP-ACTION SELF HALF-COCKING HAMMERGUN, serial no. 4706, circa 1874, 29 7/8in. nitro reproved barrels (in 2008, left wall well below recommended minimum), 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. in both, Needham patent action, patent no. 1544 of 22nd May 1862, forward facing sidelever simultaneously operating external cams to half cock the hammers whilst the internal spindle pushes back the pins as it rotates, non-rebounding locks with carved hammers of hare's-ear form, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, 14 3/4in. stock (some crazing to finish), including 1/4in. extension, weight 6lb. 11oz.
